Minutes Archive - Search Options
Minutes Montage

Over the past 125 years or so of the clubs history many records have been kept of the Committee and Yearly meetings. Some have been recorded in great detail whilst others are somewhat sparse. The many record books have been scanned to create a separate document for each of the meetings and to view or print these you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader - though most recent computer systems are likely to have this installed already (see http://www.adobe.com for the most recent free download).

All the minutes of the meetings have been examined and key topics have been stored in the database ready for you to search. Following are three search options;

  • The first returns all the records stored, ordered by the meeting date from the earliest onward.
  • The second allows you to enter one or more phrases (or names) for the system to search for within the topics recorded at the meeting or the Chairperson.
  • The third search returns all the meetings that took place between the dates you enter (please note the date format).

Sucessful searches for records will take you to a table of results from where you can then access the scanned records of the meetings that match your search criteria. Three particulary interesting searches enjoyed by previous visitors are as follows:

  • Use search 4, choose Important People then look at the file for 1921-22,102 to read about the unfortunate death of Matt Postlethwaite whilst on the field.
  • Use search 2 to look for records containing Workington, then look at 1906-1910085.pdf for a newspaper cutting about the match aginst the Workington Tradesmen.
  • Use the link at the bottom of the page to view the 1911-1914 complete Minutes book for a list of the Players that fought in the 'Great War' (page 107).

If you would like to access an entire Minutes book then you will find links at the bottom of this page to those that we have already digitised. They are listed by the period they cover and more will be added as they are prepared. Please be aware that many of these are very large files and may take some considerable time to download even on a Broadband/ADSL connection.

Complete Books - Digitised copies of Minutes books.
Due to the size of the files that are created when a Minutes book has been completely digitised it is not really advisable that you attempt to read one over a standard dial-up Internet connection. Beside the name of each of the Minutes books we have given the approximate file size. As a guide for a typical Broadband connection, allow a couple of minutes download time for every 10Mb of a file (and at least 10 times longer for a dial-up connection).

All the files are in Adobe PDF format - see the details at the top of this page about where to download the latest version of Adobe Reader software should you need it.
